Bookdog : Sorting

Q.  I sorted my bookmarks but they don't look sorted in my browserAnswer:  In the menu, click > File > Save.  It you were asked to quit the browser, re-launch it and look again.

Q.  I sorted my bookmarks, and clicked "Save", but they still don't look sorted in Safari.  Answer.  Usually the sorted bookmarks show within Safari immediately, but if you don't see a change in Safari's "Show All Bookmarks" view, momentarily activate another window and then return to "Show All Bookmarks".  That usually wakes it up.  In rare cases you may have to just wait a minute.

Q.  I want Bookdog to not sort some of my folders, like my Bookmarks Bar.  Can I tell Bookdog "don't sort" certain folders?  Answer:  Yes.  You may set any folder or collection to be sorted or not.

Q.  One (or more) of my folders are not being sorted.  Answer:  Select that folder in Bookdog's Main Window and make sure it is set to be sorted.  Also, in the menu, click Preferences, then the Sorting Order tab.  Examine the table and make sure that you have set these bookmarks to sort as you expect.

Q.  Bookwatchdog sometimes (or always) does not sort when it is supposed to. Answer:  To avoid conflicts, Bookwatchdog disables itself whenever Bookdog is running.  Always quit Bookdog when you are done editing your bookmarks.  Also, do not add Bookdog to your Login Items.

Q.  After I perform an operation which affects all of my bookmarks, such as Migration or Sorting, my outline is collapsed.  Answer.  In order for these actions to be undo-able, Bookdog replaces your entire "tree" of bookmarks with a new one as a result of these operations.  Set the "Expand to depth" menu to a setting you like, and Bookdog will remember and use it whenever these bookmarks are replaced.
