Opera version 15+

During the past year, Opera Software has rebuilt the Opera web browser from scratch, and in so doing they omitted the built-in bookmarks feature.  Obviously, our apps cannot sync, import from the Bookmarks Menu in Opera 15+ because there is no there there:

When you import or export with Opera from current versions of Smarky, Synkmark, Markster or BookMacster, you are importing or exporting with your Opera version 12 bookmarks, which are still used by Opera if you run Opera 10-12.

Instead of a traditional Bookmarks with folders and/or tags, the new Opera version 15+ first offered one, then two, and now
three simplified places to put bookmarks.  If you search, you can find a fourth place: a Bookmark extension, which gives you popover bookmarks manager that looks like this:

We dont recommend using that because, although the developer did a valiant job with what was available, as reviewers have indicated, its not really useable.

We understand that the situation is confusing, and it would have been nice if Opera Software could have made the transition to Opera 15 in a more organized way, but we appreciate that real life in the software business is messy and unpredictable, and sometimes you just make it up as you go along and see what flies.

The good news is that the Bookmarks Bar  which returned to Opera in April 2014 uses the same design as that of Google Chrome is, and we should be able to support importing and exporting with the the Bookmarks Bar in Opera 15+ without too much difficulty.  Since its re-appearance, we’ve been waiting to see if the Bookmarks Menu would return too.  Without the Bookmarks Menu, we have no choice but to merge all bookmarks from the Bookmarks Menu in other browsers into the Bookmarks Bar.  We’re probably going to do that someday soon, but are still loathe to introduce something which is going to cause backward compabitiliby headaches if the Opera design evolves further.

One
outstanding issue is that Opera 15+ omitted the limited AppleScript support which allowed us to land new bookmarks using BookMacster's Floating Menu, Dock Menu o Status Menulet.  We’ve reported this issue to Opera Software and hope that it will get attention someday.
